We’re falling apart,
And we’re coming together,
Again and again…
“Never Say Never” is a love song written and performed by The Fray. It is about a couple in love that seems to be going through the ups and downs of a loving relationship. There are things unsaid between them, at times they even fall in and out of love- even though they stay together. The woman has expressed something to the extent that it will “never” work out between them. The singer is more hopeful and imagines a forever with her. He asks her to envision it.
Will she be his queen? He makes promises to be her guardian.
The singer begins the song kind of distant from the subject—studying the relationship analytically. His tone is almost factual, ”you can never say never”. That is, “hey it could work out between us.” By the end of the song (and perhaps after thinking about what the relationship means to him) he is pleading to her, “don’t let me go.”
“Never Say Never” is a classic pop song that hits on many levels. Great title, great topic (love), simple structure and good production.
Never Say Never Lyrics
Some things we don’t talk about
Rather do without
And just hold a smile
Falling in and out of love
Ashamed and proud of
Together all the while
You can never say never while we don’t know it
Time and time again
Younger now than we were before
Don’t let me go, don’t let me go, don’t let me go
Don’t let me go, don’t let me go, don’t let me go
Picture you’re the queen of everything
Far as the eye can see
Under your command
I will be your guardian when all is crumbling
Steady your hand
You can never say never while we don’t know it
Time, time and time again
Younger now than we were before
Don’t let me go, don’t let me go, don’t let me go
Don’t let me go, don’t let me go, don’t let me go
We’re falling apart,
And we’re coming together,
Again and again
We’re crawling apart,
But we’re falling together,
Falling together
Together again
Don’t let me go, don’t let me go, don’t let me go
Don’t let me go, don’t let me go, don’t let me go
Don’t let me go, don’t let me go, don’t let me go
Don’t let me go, don’t let me go, don’t let me go
